WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF GOD CALLED TO BE BLESSED

In today’s Gospel passage, Jesus reprimands the Pharisees, the Scribes and the lawyers for their hypocrisy.  They built monuments for the prophets whom their ancestors killed, falsely projecting that they would have listened to those prophets if they had been then and that they did it as an atonement for killing the prophets.  They reproved the act of their ancestors while in reality they were not better than them at all. The Scribes and the Lawyers were the official interpreters of the Scripture.  Their interpretation was difficult and distorted that the people were discouraged, disoriented and distanced themselves from the religion. This is why Jesus upbraids the Pharisees, Scribes and the Lawyers for their superficial religion, self-righteousness, self-glory, absolute influence, greedy hearts, false accusations, rejection of truth and above all for their hypocrisy and double standard living.

God created us, His children to be simple, happy, caring, sharing, helping and making life for one another easy, enthusiastic, happy and interesting.  If we conduct our lives unto God’s ways we can hear God saying “Blessed are you”.  Let us conduct our lives befitting to our calling as the ‘Children of God’.  May be ever remain original, real and simple; God’s blessings too will be ever upon us.
